Selling advertising space in a stadium has always been trained from one person to the next in an organization. We all learned it somewhere… This may seem like a really strange space to sell, but GrinOn’s customers have had significant success. Here’s how they did it:
Common elements to selling advertising space anywhere are:
Quality of Impression
Hitting the targeted market is very important, creating a graphic that delivers souvenir value to those consumers is at the core of impressing that high-quality target market advertisers are after. We all know we don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, but when people see this product in action, they drink their beer and wonder what it says on the MAG™ the whole time and then when they get to see it, it makes them happy because it adds value in some way (see schematic on MAG™ page).
Size of the Advertisement
This is the largest advertisement most fans see; as strange as that sounds, it is because it is the closest advertisement to them. The outfield wall is great and gets everyone to look at it, but it is usually not the largest advertisement if the MAG™ space is being utilized.
Response Rate
Response rates will vary depending on the message delivered on the MAG™, similar to other billboards.
Return-on-Investment of Advertising Campaign
What really matters to advertisers is the effectiveness of the advertising campaign and the return-on-investment. We’ll get to finding out how to tie all of this together below. A study by Purdue University showed that the average American looks at the fridge 20 times per day; that is per person in the household. Not only will fans remember what graphic is on the MAG™, but they will display it once they take it home as a souvenir for friends and family to see.
Commonalities of this advertising medium:
Not sure how much to sell this space for? Determine the value of the MAG™ at your venue. (It would be awesome if we could put a scale next to a MAG, like below that says this is 1”… and is about one foot from your eyes and then a billboard from a general admission seat that says this is 10’ billboard from 300 feet away, and show they are different sizes but the MAG is bigger…)
